With the 19th pick in the 2009 NFL Draft the Philadelphia Eagles have selected Jeremy Maclin from Missouri. The Eagles traded up to grab Maclin, so they must love his value at the draft spot. A lot of experts had Maclin rated as a top 10 pick, so it surprising to see him slip about 10 spots. However, Maclin is now going to a playoff contender and has Donovan McNabb throwing him the ball instead of JaMarcus Russell.
Maclin should be a great fit for the Eagles. I’m excited for him to see what he can do in a high powered offense.

The day all Jeremy Maclin fans have been waiting for is almost here. Tomorrow is the start of the 2009 NFL Draft, where our favorite player will be selected to a new team and start a new phase of his life. Maclin’s days at Missouri will never be forgotten. Sure he never won them a National Championship, but boy did he put on a show these past two years. We’ve rarely seen any players in history put up so many all-purpose yards and make so many big plays.
Almost every single mock draft I’ve seen now has Jeremy Maclin as the first wide receiver taken in the draft, just a slot or two above Michael Crabtree. The consensus now is that Maclin will be selected by the Raiders at No. 7 and Crabtree at No. 8 to the Jaguars. For Maclin’s sake, I might like to see him drop a few slots to Green Bay at No. 9. I think he could be a great playmaker for the Packers. They also are the most stable franchise in the top 10 and have a young stud quarterback.
Where do you think Maclin will be drafted? I can’t wait for tomorrow!

Things are starting to heat up in the NFL Draft world. Some players are falling, some are rising. I think Maclin would be on the rising list. It’s being reported by the Kansas City Star that Jeremy Maclin was note invited to the NFL Draft in New York City. Here’s an excerpt from their story:
Missouri wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is fine with the fact that he wasn’t invited to New York City for draft weekend by the NFL.
“I didn’t get invited,” said Maclin, who is projected by many to be a top-10 pick in next weekend’s draft.
“I’m fine with it,” he said. “I’m not tripping off that. I’ve seen as high as sixth and as low as 17. I’ve seen the Raiders quite a bit.”
Maclin seems to be one of the safest WR picks in the draft right now. Crabtree’s foot has been in a boot for a month and Percy Harvin just failed a drug test. I wouldn’t surprise me to see Maclin be the first WR selected this year.

Over the past week I’ve been reading a lot about Michael Crabtree’s stock dropping in the NFL Draft. That mean’s Jeremy Maclin could be moving up some boards. What’s not to love about Maclin? He’s a fast, shifty WR that can run out of the backfield and play on special teams. He’s a lot like Ted Ginn Jr. from a few years ago who I believe went something like No. 9 overall.
I initially thought Maclin would go somewhere around 17-20, but now I think there is a real shot he could be picked in the top 10. The Raiders, Jaguars, and 49ers are all in desperate need of a WR. Someone may take a shot at our boy.
From Rotoworld:
Missouri WR Jeremy Maclin has been medically cleared after tweaking his knee at February’s Scouting Combine.
Dr. James Andrews gave Maclin clearance. The underclassman entrant may not work out at Mizzou’s Pro Day, but will be 100 percent by rookie camps. Maclin (6′0/198) ran an official 4.45 forty at the Combine, but skipped all other drills.

The NFL Combine took place over the past few days and wrap up tomorrow in Indianapolis. During one of the deep ball receiving drills, Jeremy Maclin injured his knee. I’m sure it was a extremely scary moment for Jeremy and the coaches/scouts watching him.
“I’m doing well,” Maclin said Sunday evening. “I’m hurting a little bit from the spill I took. I basically outran the throw. I tried to plant and come back and took a little spill and kind of hyperextended my left knee and fell on my right side.”
Some players would take the day off the recoup, but not Jeremy.
“I had to get back out there,” said Maclin, considered the second-best receiver in the draft. It was one of the biggest days of my life. You’ve got to stay healthy. Thats the one of the NFLs biggest questions, durability. I’ve never missed a game. I’m still in good shape.
“Other than that, I ran routes pretty well, I didn’t drop a ball. I feel good… I’m a little disappointed in my 40 time.”
Earlier in the morning, Maclin ran unofficial times of 4.34 and 4.4 in the 40-yard dash, a tad slower than the 4.29 he had hoped to run.
“It was one of those days,” Maclin said. “That’s why I have pro day on March 5, to make it better.”

Jeremy Maclin, the two-time All-American, announced his widely expected decision to turn pro last Friday — but not before breaking down in tears at the microphone before a crowd of media, teammates and coaches. Over the past two years, Maclin has been a threat on all aspects to the offense and special teams. He can run the ball, catch the ball and return punts/kicks. He has the speed and ability to succeed on the next level.
Missouri Tigers fans will be sad to see him go, but for Maclin, heading to the NFL is in his best interest. Jeremy will most likely be a first round pick, which means a couple million dollars in guaranteed money. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound sophomore caught 102 passes for Missouri this season while leading the nation with 2,833 all-purpose yards.
Here’s a video of his announcement.

Jeremy Maclin will announce his decision whether to return to Missouri or enter the NFL Draft at a news conference Friday in Columbia. Maclin said earlier this season that he would go pro if he was projected to be a 1st rounder. Well every single mock draft I’ve seen has him in the first round.
I’m not sure what he’ll do, but I bet he’s leaning towards leaving. St. Louis Today
Check back tomorrow for the update.
